Robin Hutcheson is the Director of Public Works for the City of Minneapolis. The Public Works Department strives to make Minneapolis a safe, livable, and prosperous City by providing clean drinking water, surface water and sewer services, solid waste and recycling, fleet services, and a connected multi-modal transportation system. Her work in Minneapolis focuses on leveraging public right of way investments for broader outcomes, particularly equity, in one of the most disparate Cities in the nation. Prior to her appointment in Minneapolis, Robin served as the Transportation Director for Salt Lake City, UT, where she implemented transportation projects of all types, including the revamping of the City’s parking and signal timing systems, the construction of the City’s first streetcar, numerous pedestrian safety projects, and the expansion of the City’s bicycling program. Robin has also been a consultant specializing in transportation and transit, and has worked in cities throughout the western United States, in London and France, and for the European Union Commission on Sustainability. She believes deeply in collaboration, partnership, and communication, and brings these values in to her daily work. Robin is currently the Vice President on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Transportation Officials (NACTO), and is on the Advisory Committee for the Minnesota chapter of the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS). While originally from the Nutmeg State, she has enjoyed many years as an avid skier in the Rocky Mountains. Robin and her husband David are now excited to call Minneapolis home.
